Will it float? Or will it sink?

This week in Reception we had a special challenge! We had to help Noi and his Dad to make a brand new boat to help them to get home... 

We experimented with different materials in our classroom to try and find which objects float and which objects sink. Some objects like our light wooden box floated on top of the water: we decided they would make a very good boat! Some objects fell all the way to the bottom of our bucket. They sank, and we thought it would not be a good idea to make a boat from these materials. Paper and rock sank really quickly!
