What do plants need to grow?

Date: 28th Feb 2025 @ 2:34pm

This half-term, year 3 are learning all about plants in Science.

To begin our topic, we asked the question 'what do plants need to grow?'

We completed some research that showed us they needed air, water, space, light and soil...but we wanted to test if this was true or not.

We have now set up an experiment, where we have planted 6 different basil seeds. In each plant pot, we have removed one of the different things that plants need. We have also planted one seed that has air, water, space, light and soil so that we can compare.

We will water them (apart from the one where water is removed!) each day, and see if the basil plant grows or not.
