Do stems transport water?

Date: 18th Mar 2025 @ 3:15pm

This week in science, year 3 have been learning all about the role the stem plays in plants. We learnt that it is the xylem that is reponsible for helping transport water through the stem of the plant, but we wanted to see how well it worked.

In order to test the xylem, we added blue food colouring to a jug of water that contained tulips. To our surprise and delight, the petals of the tulips turned blue!
